Yes, sand-grown sod is the highest quality sod available. In our area we have a sandy soil, so you want a sod that is close to the soil type that it is going to be replanted in. Sand-grown soil also creates a mature root system and is required by golf courses. Alachua County Extention Office recommends locally sand-grown sod as the best option for your lawn.

How Long Can Sod Be Left On a Pallet After Cutting?
During the summer months, when it is very hot, you will want to lay the sod within 24 hours of the sod being harvested. In the winter, it is best to lay it as soon as possible but it can wait up to 48 hours of being harvested. If you cannot lay the sod right away, place the pallets in the shade. Never water the pallets as this will cause the sod to attract heat and burn which will kill it almost instantly.

How Much Water Do I Put On the Sod?
When the sod is first laid, you must water it about 1/2 inch for the first two to three weeks until it takes root. Once it is established, you can begin watering it every other day or every few days. This is approximately one to two hours of watering depending on your system. During the summer heat, it is vital to keep your sod watered. In the winter, you can water it every 10 to 14 days.
How Short Should I Cut My Grass?
We recommend cutting St. Augustine Bitter Blue grass 2 in. to 4 in. For Zoysia Grass, we recommend 1 in. to 2 in. Never take more than one-third of the growth off when cutting.
Do You Offer a Warranty On Your Sod?
While sod is a perishable item, we do offer a 10-day warranty. If you have a problem within that time period, we will try to answer your concern. We may come by to consult with you and identify what you may be doing incorrectly. If the issue is not due to your care, we will make it right. This is one of the benefits of buying directly from the grower.
What type of fertilizer should I use on my grass?
Application amount varies with each sod. A 16-4-8 should be used as a summer fertilizer and 5-10-15 with spring and fall fertilization. St. Augustine Grass requires more care; two applications a year are needed. Zoysia is a lower maintenance grass so you may fertilize it once or twice a year.
